Melissa M.
At Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center everyone is helpful, friendly, personal, and caring. In so many other instances, medical care has become less personal, more complex, and often more frustrating. The distance between the physician and the patient is often quite large, with lots of administrative barriers, but that’s not the case when I began seeing Dr. Collura. The experience seems to be much more patient-centered at Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center.
Dr. Collura has helped me in so many ways. She talked with me, rather than to me, about my diagnosis, and initiated a treatment process that we continue to carry out. Dr. Collura is thoughtful, conscientious, well-informed and consistently interested in the latest ideas and treatments. She listens and works with me in a partnership. She spends an enormous amount of time just talking with me and working out details together.
I have an immunoglobulin deficiency, and it would be difficult for me to interact normally in the world without weekly antibody infusion treatments. We are working with a relatively new treatment technology, and Dr. Collura helps fine-tune the process as we go along. She makes sure that all the players are on the same page at the same time. She is extremely active in my ongoing care.
