He completed his undergraduate studies at Kent State University and earned his medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University in 2002. Dr. Patel then pursued an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL, where he also completed his fellowship in Allergy & Immunology in 2007.
Since moving to Charlotte, Dr. Patel has been a dedicated Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center team member. He holds board certifications in Internal Medicine (initially certified in 2005 and recertified in 2015) and Allergy/Immunology (initially certified in 2007 and recertified in 2017). Dr. Patel is an active member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. His clinical expertise includes asthma, seasonal allergies, sinus disease, chronic cough, skin rashes, and food allergies.
Dr. Patel is passionate about caring for families of all ages, from children to adults. He values the relationships he builds with his patients and takes pride in helping them understand how to manage their health effectively.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Patel enjoys spending quality time with his three children, traveling, fitness, and reading books. He enjoys movies, especially the Harry Potter, Star Wars, and the Marvel Universes.

I have had consistent, unexplainable hives for 3 weeks straight so I went in for allergy testing. For the past 3 years I have been dealing for symptoms that I felt I could not get any other doctor to explain or give me a justification to why it was happening. I have seen quite a few doctors this year looking for a diagnosis for my symptoms. Most doctors and PA’s are in a hurry and don’t think outside their little box. They treat certain diagnoses and prescribe certain medicines and they’re in a hurry to get to the next patient. Dr. Patel is the best. No comparison. He is friendly, real, and has a great personality. Dr. Patel actually listens to his patients and BELIEVES them when they describe their symptoms. He takes the time to consider the options and is willing to try different methods to treat his patients. If he needs to explain something, he will take out a marker and draw diagrams on the paper covering the examination table. He treats his patients like they are intelligent. It is easy to talk to him about medical problems but also about current events and other topics. There is a reason it takes months to get an appointment with Dr. Patel. I went in to talk allergy testing. 10 minutes into the intake evaluation, Dr. Patel insisted that he test my asthma based on the answers I was giving. Turns out my mild asthma that was under control was not so under control. Really appreciated how much he listened to my answers and concerns and took the time to go the extra mile. Dr. Patel is such a great doctor. We have been seeing him since my son was little and for my husband for the last 6 years. The best part about him is that he always has a treatment plan for his patient and communicates that plan to the patient (which many doctors don’t do these days), so it is like working towards a goal. Especially for allergy related treatments I always believe that the partnership between the doctor and the patient is really important. At every visit, he evaluates each medication - if it is necessary or not or what the plan is, so the patient feels like he is taking only the medications he needs to. He is so knowledgeable!!! He is always so attentive to her as she is older (89) and is genuinely happy to see her. To me, and my child (the patient ) , Dr. Patel has shown that he is a physician that truly cares about his patients! I have worked for many different MD's over the years ( I am approaching 52 yrs.), and he is by far the most attentive, thorough, down to "earth" , kind", but also professional Dr. that I have ever encountered. My son is the patient, and I completely trust his judgement with my son's medical issues. His "bedside manner " is beyond anything I have ever experienced! I am not kidding!! That aside, he is extremely knowlegeable regarding the best treatment for my child, and shows concern for the ultimate outcome. I don't normally review Dr.'s online, but he is extremely deserving of the praise! Most often I see reviews on line that are not complimentary of the specific Dr., but in this case, I could not - not deny the exceptional care that Dr. Patel gives his patients. His staff is equally caring, and I would not include that in the review if I did not absolutely agree that it was truthful! Thank you for listening! Had my first appointment today and Dr. Patel was the nicest doctor. He really listens and cares for his patients. He is the kind of person you would want someone you care for to be seen by because he really wants to help his patients. The other staff were also amazing...my nurse was so helpful and I loved the phlebotomist, she was awesome. Love this doctors office and the people there!
