Certification by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI)
provides assurance and confidence that an Allergist/Immunologist
has successfully completed an accredited educational program and
evaluation process, including a secure, proctored examination.

Only those physicians who have completed a residency in Internal
Medicine and/or Pediatrics plus a 2-3 year fellowship in Allergy/
Immunology are entitled to sit for the ABAI certification examination.
Many doctors that report allergy as their subspecialty have not
completed subspecialty fellowship training in allergy/immunology
and are NOT certified by the American Board of Allergy/Immunology.
ABAI certification assures that the physician possesses the knowledge,
skills, and experience necessary to provide the highest quality of patient
care in allergy and immunology. The ABAI believes that all allergists/
immunologists should have a fundamental knowledge of the biological
science basic to this discipline, and the ABAI is responsible for the
establishment and maintenance of the standards of knowledge
required for certification.
All CAAC physicians are board certified in Internal Medicine and/or
Pediatrics as well as Board Certified in Allergy/Immunology which
equips us with the necessary tools to provide the best possible care
for you and your family.
Desensitization immunotherapy is a treatment plan
that improves allergy/asthma symptom severity,
reduces medication use, can stop the development
of new allergies in the future and may prevent the
progression to asthma.
Desensitization immunotherapy can be administered
subcutaneously (shots). We are actively involved
in clinical studies of both subcutaneous (shots) and
sublingual (under the tongue drops) immunotherapy to
ensure you receive the highest standard of care.
Individualized diagnosis and treatment plans determine
which type of desensitization is best for you.
Immunotherapy can lead to long lasting relief of allergy
symptoms even after treatment is discontinued.
